The H-DHS Mathematics Department is committed to ensuring that our students are prepared to meet the ongoing challenges that exist in the 21st century. We will provide every opportunity for students to have access to the most rigorous of courses, while providing remediation when necessary. It is our hope that each student will read, write and speak the language of mathematics.
Requirement for Graduation: 3 credits
A course in Algebra I must be taken to satisfy the state requirements for graduation. Students are also required to earn a credit in Geometry per district policy. Students are expected to choose courses that challenge their abilities. Generally, Freshmen will take Algebra I, Sophomores will take Geometry, and Juniors will take Algebra II. Many of our seniors enroll in Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, or Math for the Trades.
Scope and sequencing of math courses is based on student readiness and ability
