Introduction to Food is designed to help students learn basic kitchen concepts. Equipment, safety, and sanitation will all be included through guided instruction in a class that has both professional and personal applications. Students will also participate in hands-on food labs and cooperative learning opportunities that focus on food preparation techniques for fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and protein. By the end of the course, students will have the necessary skills to begin planning, purchasing, and preparing nourishing meals while also exploring career possibilities in the food service industry.
858- Wood Technology I Half Year 1/2 credit

Wood Technology I is available to any high school student regardless of previous experience. Students will learn the fundamentals of working with wood, including project design, use of hand and stationary power tools, joinery, fabrication, assembly processes Use of jigs and fixtures and finishing. Instruction is provided to the class as well as on an individual basis, allowing for different skill and capability levels. Students must take Wood Technology I to be eligible for more advanced classes.
859- Wood Technology II Half Year 1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Wood Technology I
Wood Technology II builds upon the foundational skills and knowledge introduced in Wood Technology I, with an increased emphasis on precision, problem-solving, and independent work. Students further develop their understanding of wood properties, joinery, measurement, and safe use of hand and power tools while applying these skills to more complex and challenging projects.
