One requirement of the BSCA students in HEIs offering Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration requires the students to take the Internship/Practicum Course before they finish their degree. In accordance with the CHED Memorandum Order No. 30 series of 2021, the BSCA students must successfully finish the Practicum/Internship program for at least 300 hours in order for them to proceed with the remaining subjects as this were the requisite & compliance of fulfilling the degree. Instead of working off-site, the BSCA Interns were temporarily suspended from deployment on the field as the global scenario amidst COVID-19 strictly adhered to the Inter-Agency Task Force health protocols. With that, the BSCA Program decided to continue the practicum and changes to the mode of training, which is the Webinar Workshop series. Due to the post-pandemic, most of the customs industry and firms forfeited to accept any interns to work in their respective firms as they avoid the chances of getting contaminated and the COVID-19 virus that is rampant up until the present days. Unable to experience the on-site customs firms, and considering the safety and security in the meantime.
In the 21st century, the assessment of the learning engagement and approach were integrated as we are currently adapting to the virtual world-the technology enhanced & digitalization world. The BSCA Internship program converted into Virtual Webinar Workshop Series with ten (10) different topics covering the areas of the following: Professionalism & Ethical Standards, Human Dignity & Spirituality at Workplace, Job Application & Career Enhancements, Single Admnistrative Document (SAD) & other Requisite Documents, Forms and Content for Import Transactions, Bureau of Customs’ Customer Care Center (BOC-CCC), Filling up of Goods Declaration & Flow of Actual processing of Entry of Imported Goods (for Consumption & Warehousing), Shipping Lines Operations & Procedures, Export Processes, Requisite Documents, Forms & Content, Bonded Warehouse Procedures & Operations, and Basic freight Forwarding Operations.
