Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) refers to specialized clothing or equipment designed to act as a barrier, protecting healthcare workers from infectious agents and preventing the spread of microorganisms to patients and staff
Wear when contact with blood or body fluids is possible.
Use once then discard; never reuse.
Change between tasks on the same client.
Wash hands immediately after removal.
Wear when splash or spray of fluids is anticipated.
Tie securely and ensure full coverage of uniform.
Remove and turn inward before leaving client’s room.
Dispose or launder immediately after use.
Eye and Face Protection:
Wear goggles or face shields whenever there is a risk of splashes.
Remove by handling the straps to avoid
Mask (Surgical)
Surgical masks protect others from droplets; wear if you are ill.
Place over nose and mouth; avoid touching the front.
Discard after single use or when moist.
Respirator N95
For airborne diseases
Requires fit testing
