Watch this video!
The video will explain the Five Goals for Assistance, which include supporting independence, promoting dignity and respect, ensuring safety, encouraging decision-making, and communicating effectively. It will also walk through the specific role-play scenarios, such as assisting clients with aphasia, hearing loss, dementia, and vision impairment, highlighting the practical CNA actions for each.
Support independence — Do with the client, not for them.
Promote dignity and respect — Speak kindly, use the client’s name, and avoid 'baby talk.'
Ensure safety and comfort — Observe body language for distress or pain.
Encourage decision-making — Offer choices and respect preferences.
Communicate effectively — Use methods that match the client’s ability and preferences.
