One-time volunteer opportunities that help students learn more about careers and employability skills while contributing to the organization's mission. This includes helping at hospitals, animal shelters, public health and safety days, and learning from community-benefit organizations.
Provide students the opportunity to learn about a wide range of careers, jobs, companies, work environments, and the post-secondary education/training necessary to enter and advance in the workforce
Share information and expectations of a professional workplace (dress code, workplace culture, etc.)
Explain to student who helped you get to the job you have
Introduce employability skills to students
Share the volunteer requirements (age, work-experience, permissions, etc.) with students
Complete necessary forms in a timely manner prior to the activity
HIDOE examples: Travel, Parent Permission, Administrator Approval, etc.
Share documentation of volunteer hours with student(s) for portfolios
Share any feedback/reflections about the volunteer experience with the community organization
