For this project, we used knuts, bolts, lockwashers, washers, yarn, thread, mason jar lid, wrench. I created a cord braider. I made it because when I was little I had a toy that made them but it broke, so I wanted to make a new version.
During this process, I learned how to use tools. I kind of knew how to use them before, but for this project I couldn't use the bolts the way I thought I would. I also learned how to make the braids because I haven't made anything like it before (with this kind of project).
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Inovative Designer. This is because I had to build my design basically from scratch.
A challenge I overcame on this project was I didn't know where to put the parts. The design I had had different parts than what I had. I was able to do it by trial and error and making sure it worked they way I wanted it to.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the loose washers. They aren't in the right place and they are loud and annoying. The reason why I would change it is because I don't think they really help anything .
