Planning Questions:
I am working with Chloe
I will need the robots and iPad
My plan is to just mess around and find out how to code it.
My robot will do different things then other robots.
Daily Log:
Day 1: I tried finding what Dashes name was so I could connect to it.
Day 2: I did 10 good things and planning questions because I forgot to do them before.
Day 3: We started building the Legos on the robot so it could throw the tire.
The code for the Dash robot.
Day 4: We coded the robot to throw the tire and we started working on the bolt robot.
Day 5: We tired to figure out how to use the bolt robot.
Day 6: We coded the sphero mini to do a rectangle and square.
Day 6: We coded the Bolt to do a party bomb then a celebration.
The code for the bolt.
Day 7: We started coding the iRobot to spell out "hey".
Day 8: We finished our last robot and turned in our work.
Using the Bolt robot, I created a code that made a party bomb, then a movement, then a countdown, then lastly a color changing celebration because I had to learn how to do a code that does movement and color changing.. Using the Dash robot, I created a place to put a mini tire on the robot and coded the robot to throw a tire because I had to learn how to code a robot to throw something and learn how to build something useful with Legos. Using a Sphero mini robot, I created different regular shapes because I had to learn how to make a robot make different shapes. Using the iRobot, I created a code to make the robot spell a word because I had to learn how to make a code to make a robot write a word.
During this process, I learned that coding robots can be hard but it can also be easy. It really just depends on what kind of robot you are using. Like the iRobot was harder to code then any of the other robots and the dash was the easiest.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I used different robots to solve different problems about coding. My project also ties to creative communicator because I shared my codes on my website.
A challenge I overcame on this project was coding the iRobot to write a word. It was a challenge because you had to add so many different codes to make it write something. I was able to do it by adding a lot of codes together to make it write a word. We also had a lot of trouble connecting the robots to the ipad. We overcame this by trying each robot that we could connect to until we found our robot.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change what shapes I would do with the Sphero mini because I did quick and easy shapes so I could move on to the next robot. I would also change what word I did for the iRobot.
