Ipad cardboard sphero tinfoil
a soccer field for a sphero
I haven't seen anyone do it so i thought it'd be unique
Using the dash an ipad and some cardboard, I created a sphero soccer ball field/game because I hadn't seen anybody do it and I thought it would be a fun way to encooperate the big sphero into a project and I also wanted to do something involving a sport.
During this process, I learned how to drive the big sphero and also programming it to different colors different sounds and different speeds. I also learned how to make a cardboard soccer goal and how to keep it up from the sphero holding it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative designer because with the sphero hitting the goal it wouldn't stay up so I taped the goal to the ground, that also didn't work so i took a slab of cardboard and hot glued the goal on the cardboard slab so it wouldn't fall.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the ball coming out of the legs on the sphero. I was able to do it by making the ball tape so it could stay inside of the legs easier and so it would kind of stick in there and not come out when you turned.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the goal design and put some sides on the goal. The reason why I would change it is because the ball was rolling out the sides and we couldn't tell if it was a goal or not.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School because I had tyo engineer a soccer field that fit the sphero and tyhe ball. My project connects to careers in game building and maybe architecture.
