Using the 3D printer, I created a fidget ring because school is stressful and I need something to fidget with that will not be a distraction. If this does not work out then I can try to design it into something else.
During this process, I learned how to size things correctly. For this project, I had to measure my finger and find to proper diameter and thickness for it to be able to fit my finger and have the possibility to spin. I did have to look up some things about how to properly size to be able to learn or re-learn how to do things.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I created a project that was a meaningful learning experience for me and the people around me. I also created a project that can be used to teach others the way that bearings work.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the ring to spin. I was able to do it by putting in some beads from an old neckless. Though it still does not spin very smooth it can still spin.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the size of the ring. The reason why I would change it is that first of all, the ring does not fit the best around my finger and is still a bit lose; second of all, it is kinda bulky and in the way.
