• Using X-Carve, I created a middle school graduation board because these are the last 2 weeks in middle school and I wanted something to remember the good times. My board has my name, the sports I did in my middle school years, and 2025 the year I graduate.

• During this process, I learned to remove any border placeholders that I still have on the online design before I make it. I learned this the hard way when I forgot to remove the border and the bit cut through the piece that holds the board in place. Lucky for me, Mr.Renner was not too mad.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge constructor because I created something that I can hold and keep. I learned how to do new things on the computer and learned how to transfer something I created online to something 3D that I can hold and feel.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was working with the size of the bit. I was able to do it by trying a bunch of different ways that I could have had the images engraved into the wood.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would remember to remove the border place holder. The reason why I would change it is because I messed up the first time and broke some things. With the border still there, it cut through the thing that was holding the bored in place.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programing CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in wood work, jewelry maker, personal designer, and furniture designer.
