Using cardboard, duck tape, and paint, I created a captain America shield because I have been binge-watching all of the Marvel movies and I was inspired. I found it cool to be watching Captain America as I was painting the shield. I think the idea of an almost indistructable sheiled is is really cool seeing all of the things you can do with it. unfotinately my sheild is made out of cardbord and not proto-adamantium.
During this process, I learned that measuring is always the way to go. I did not measure too much at first and my circle looked more like a rounded square instead. After that I did decide to mesure from the inside and I finaly worked it out. The sheild still looks a little mis-shapened but it still works really good.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator because I was expressing myself in the way I make art and how I use the tools I had to create my art. I was communicating my fasination of marvel when I made this sheild. Though I was not expressing my favorite super hero.
A challenge I overcame on this project was painting. I was able to do it by marking out where I was going to paint. I am not the best with painting and it did get a little messy but it all turned out okay. One of the spicific problems I had with painting was the mrarker that I had already put on was coming up and mixing with the paint. The marker color was red and the paint was blue so this made a portion of my outer circle purple. I changed his by simply putting on multipul cotes of paint.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the material of the sheild. The reason why I would change it is because with the sheild being made out of cardboard it is very flimsy and could fall apart easily. I would probly change it from cardboard to some sort of metal that is moldable but will keep its shape. I am not sure what type of metal I would use but I would have to get something lightweight yet durable.
