8P11 - Laser Cutter

• Using a laser cutter, I created a Live Laugh Love sign for my room because I wanted to add something unique to my room. I created this piece with the words Live, Laugh, Love because those words mean so much to me and my life.

• During this process, I learned how the laser cutter works. I learned how to turn on the machine and I also got to see the laser burn out the material to make the shapes. The laser was super cool to watch and easy to understand.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I used what I knew and what I learned to make a project. I used my knowledge that I had and some that I gained in order to create this project.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was sending the piece to Mr.Renner so he could print it. I was able to do it by sending multiple emails with the heart and then the words and then the holes so I can hang it on my wall.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change the words on this piece. The reason why I would change it is that even though these words are inspirational I want to try putting something else on them.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programing CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in customization.
