Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working in a team with Carter Bell.
What materials will you need for your project?
We will need Hot Wheels tracks and cars along with duct tape.
What is your plan to create in this project?
We want to create something that is going to take at least multiple tries to pull off and isn't meaning less.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have a bank turn in the middle after a loop, this turn will take many tries to succeed and many adjustments to be ready.
Daily log
Day 1: We brainstormed ideas that would be unique from just a normal hotwheels track.
Day 2: We figured out through a teacher that it was super hard to get hotwheels cars to maked a bank turn.
Day 3: Through this idea we began laying out the track with duct tape and using foreign objects to lift tracks.
Day 4: After we had the idea of what we wanted to make we made some finishing touches to our track, recorded, took pictures and finished.
Here we have 2 pictures of the project showcasing the beginning ramp for speed and the bank turn. The video on the right showcases everyhitng in action and the successful bank turn.
Using Hot wheels tracks, I created a track with a loop, hill and bank turn because I wanted to do something that isn't just easy to do like putting together some tracks and calling it good, it took many tries to do correct.
During this process, I learned how to get the tracks to stick to the ground without changing position.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to a Innovative Designer because the bank turn took many innovations in order to make the turn possible.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the track to stick to the ground. I was able to do it by using duct tape and constantly checking to make sure it was on the ground.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the final ramp. The reason why I would change it is because I was hoping for the final ramp to launch the car at the wall.
