Using the Cricut, I created a circle inside a square, I did this because I wanted to figure out how the Cricut worked and how I functioned the website. Doing so let me figure out how to set up the print paper, work the cutting, and start up the Cricut. Overall, I find that doing this project taught me more about the Cricut itself and how I can use it to make my own custom letters, shirts, mugs, and more.
During this process, I learned a lot about the Cricut Design Space and how I made designs using its tools, For example, one of my designs was a pizza, and I had to figure out what each feature of the Cricut Design Space was/did to figure out how to angle and set up my test design, doing so without any flaw or things that make it look stiff or low quality. Overall, I seemed to see that doing this project helped me to learn more about the Cricut and how I could possibly use it again for a higher-quality cut.
Out of the 7 standards which include the following, Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. I feel out of the seven, my project ties closest to Empowered Learner, I think this because my project was basically a troubleshooting so I could figure out how to run the Cricut and how I could learn about this modern form of technology with the already decent knowledge I knew about design to figure out how the program and machine worked together. Overall, It seems that this project ties to Empowered Learner for I had to learn how to use this new piece of technology by using knowledge of other technology I've used before.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to print the project. I was able to do this by asking for help from other classmates who have used the machine before to give me an overview of what I needed to do. Doing so let me get my project done without having issues with my cut and without accidentally cutting the mat instead of the sticker paper, Overall, this challenge did make me struggle, but I pushed through and gave my all to find solutions to my problem without having to give up or have the project late,
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the object I put my sticker on. The reason why I would change it is because I used something that didn't have a good enough surface space, which caused the sticker to wrinkle and have bubbles inside of it. Also, changing this would make my design look a lot cleaner and not look like I cut it out of some duct tape and plastered it onto my object. Overall, this change would have made the project look a lot nicer and appear more appealing to look at then what it came out to be.
The High School Career and Technical Education Program offers an array of classes to learn from, this includes the following, Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. I think that my project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. I think that way because the fact I had to send a command to the Cricut to get it to cut my design out of the sticker paper after I set it up. Also, I had to make sure I had everything set up right with the Cricut so it knew what material it was cutting or what size it was printing. Overall, I find that I used forms of Computer Programming for this project.
My project connects to some careers as a Fashion Designer, I think this because I had to use the Cricut to make the design to put onto objects. For example, when I originally was planning to make this I wanted to use a mug to paste the design onto; however, this didn't work out since I didn't grab one to bring to school before print day. Also, I would be able to use the Cricut for making such stuff as shirts, this makes it connect more to Fashion Designer than it already did. Overall, I find that this project connects to Fashion Designer because I had to make design that could be used in a fashion sense such as clothing,
