Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
In a team
What materials will you need for your project?
Lots of screwdrivers, I-pad, Computer, Van Robotics Abii instructions.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A robot
What unique qualities will your project have?
The robot will be able to help kids with lessons k-5
Using a instruction guide, I created a ABII Robot because I had the opportunity to put together a robot that can teach kids k-5 grade. It can also watch kids to make sure they get work done and they understand the lesson. I also put it together because it can improve kids learning abilities.
During this process, I learned how to build a robot that can help kids k-5 grade. I also learn how some motors work and to calibrate the motors. I also learned that if I want to put together a robot it would take me one day or less to put everything together because I worked with a partner for 6 hours in total which means that if I did it by my own it might would take 12 hours or less.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator because I'm sharing my website with the world and they can see everything I do in this class. Also I talked to my peers if I needed any help with my website and were helping each other.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding the instruction guide and sometimes with the instructions. I was able to do it by asking the teacher where we could get the instruction guide. Also sometimes we were having troubles trying to understand the instructions or how they did it because we didn't want to do anything wrong .
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how I put together the robot or something like that. The reason why I would change it is because I think I put all the parts together without thinking about what would happen if I broke something of the robot. Also sometimes we left all the parts outside of their bags which I don't think was something correct because someone could had broken the parts we left out of their bags.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. I created a website and presentation in google slides where I showed the design of the robot and parts of the process.
My project connects to careers in Research Engineer because I did a lot of research before I started building the robot. Also before I started putting the robot together I had to learn about the robot and how it works. I also learned how parts of the robot and other stuff work.
