Planning questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
A monitor, a screwdriver,
What is your plan to create in this project?
I want to create something useful for the world, with a monitor.
What unique qualities will your project have?
The unique qualities that my project will have is that I'm gonna try to make something useful for the world.
Day 1- I started looking for projects I could make using a monitor
Day 2- I started taking parts out of the monitor
Day 3 to day 4- I started making my project, which is kinda a work table or something like that.
Day 5- I spent all the day working on my website
Using a monitor, and an I-pad, I created a chair work table (or however it's called) because I think this would be useful if someone has something heavy, and the chair won't break, I know this because I tried everything and you can put on it from 15-30(or 38) lb, which means that you can put 6 objects of 6 lb on it until the metal starts bending down.
During this process, I learned that there's a lot of kinds of metals, and some of the metals are easier to bend than others like is the metal I used to make this project. Because if I used another kind of metal to make the project it would be better than this project I made. You could also put more weight on it if the metal was better.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I needed to figure out what to make by using an old monitor, and make something new.
A challenge I overcame on this project was to attach the white plastic to the metal part, and it was hard because the plastic was smaller than the metal. I was able to do it by putting a lot of silicone between the plastic and the metal of the monitor and using my finger to make them stay together.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the kind of metal of the monitor. The reason why I would change it is because the metal can bend so easily, and it makes it not to be so successful as I wanted it to be.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Designing because I designed something by using something old or something that you can't use anymore, and by using the monitor I made something that can be used to do important projects, and can be useful.
