Reflection
Using an iPad, microphone, green screen, and iMovie, I created a podcast. This was one of the things I really wanted to do because we were allowed to choose our own project. I enjoyed the process of recording, editing, and putting everything together to make something I’m proud of.
During this process, I learned how to add a green screen to my videos. At first, it was a little tricky, but I figured it out by watching tutorials and practicing. Now I know how to make cool backgrounds that make my videos look more professional.
The seven standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects to the Global Collaborator standard because I created a podcast. By sharing it with the world, I am using technology to communicate and collaborate with a global audience.
A challenge I overcame during this project was the microphone not working properly. At first, my voice wasn’t being picked up clearly in the recordings. I solved the problem by speaking louder into the microphone so my audio would come through better.
Given the chance to do this project again, I would change the topic of our podcast. I think we could have chosen something more unique and interesting. This would have helped our podcast stand out more and possibly connect with a wider audience.
Hastings High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program offers a variety of pathways, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program because I created and edited a podcast using digital tools. This experience gave me a glimpse into the skills used in multimedia careers.
My project connects to careers in web design because we recorded our content and uploaded it to a website. We also got to design how everything looked, including the layout and visual elements. This gave me experience with digital design and how websites are created to share information effectively.
