Reflection
I created a Lego movie using an iPad, Legos, and the app iMotion because I was given the opportunity to do so. I thought it would be a great idea to tell a story about making good life choices. Using Legos allowed me to build characters and scenes, while iMotion helped me animate the movie frame by frame. The experience was fun and taught me how to bring my ideas to life through creativity and technology.
During this process, I learned that you have to build Legos in a certain way to make sure they stay together and look good. If the pieces aren't connected properly, they can easily fall apart while you're working on the movie. I had to be careful with how I placed each Lego piece to ensure the characters and scenes looked smooth and realistic. This taught me the importance of patience and attention to detail when creating something from scratch.
My project ties to the "Innovative Designer" standard because we designed everything ourselves and came up with our own ideas. Using Legos, we had to think creatively to build characters, scenes, and a storyline that would work for the movie. The process involved problem-solving and coming up with new ways to make the movie look the way we imagined it. This experience helped me develop my skills as a designer and allowed me to explore my creativity in a unique way.
A challenge I overcame during this project was accidentally taking pictures in the wrong app, which made it hard to organize my work. To fix this, I used another iPad to take the pictures and then air-dropped them to the iPad I was using for the project. This solution allowed me to continue working without losing any progress, and it taught me how to problem-solve quickly when things don't go as planned. In the end, I was able to finish the movie and learn from the experience.
Given the chance to do this again, I would change which iPad we used and who was taking the pictures and building the Legos. I think it would have worked better if one person focused on building the Legos while someone else took the pictures. This would have allowed us to be more efficient and avoid any delays. By splitting the tasks, we could have worked more smoothly and finished the project faster.
My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School because it involves creating a movie using technology and digital tools. In the project, I used an iPad and the iMotion app to animate a Lego movie, which is similar to the work done in the Digital Multimedia program. This program focuses on developing skills in video production, graphic design, and digital media, which were all part of my project. By creating the movie, I was able to explore these digital skills and see how they apply to real-world projects.
My project connects to careers in motion design because motion designers work with pictures and animations to create movies. In my project, I used iMotion to take pictures of Lego scenes and then animated them to make a movie. This is similar to what motion designers do, as they carefully plan each frame and use technology to bring images to life. By working on my Lego movie, I gained an understanding of the skills needed for a career in motion design.
I used ChatGBT to help me with my project.
