Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I'm working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
A Micro: bit, PC, and an iPad.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I'm going to create different designs on my Micro: bit.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will be unique because it is my interests. I'm also going to use designs/codes that I think will be fun to make using the Micro: bit.
I made a list of 10 good ideas and learned about the micro: bit. We also made our first code. We worked on our name tags for our home page.
We finished coding our name onto the Micro: bit and I made a video of it. I put the video on my home page.
I made a magic 8 ball on my micro: bit and I made a video of it.
I coded and made a video about the Sunbeam I created on the Micro: bit.
I made a Touch Timer and Flashing Emotions on my Micro: bit. I also tried different codes but I didn't like them as much.
I coded some more and I made a Max-min thermometer on my Micro: bit. With it you can track highest and lowest temperatures (in Celsius). Every 2 seconds it takes a reading. This image reads 29 Celsius.
I coded Animated Animals on my Micro: bit. It showed a giraffe, duck, rabbit, and snack. I also made a Compass that says where North is. I'm going to continue that so it says where South, East, and North is.
I finished coding the Compass on my Micro: bit. I made a video on iMovie on my final project.
I edited my video and finished my Micro: bit project.
Reflection
Using a Micro: bit, I created different designs. Out of these designs I chose the animals, flashing sunbeams, emotions, and put them together because they were my favorite. Also because I thought they were fun to make.
During this process, I learned how to code better and how Micro: bits work. I've also learned how to make different designs using the Micro: bit. Also I found out how to remove the volume when I was editing in iMovie.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because on the video they made a duck on their Micro: bit. I coded the duck and then I coded different animals on my Micro: bit.
A challenge I overcame on this project was trying to figure out what project I wanted to do. I was able to do it by trying out different projects and codes until I found the one I liked. I did the projects that interested me.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I chose for my project. The reason why I would change it is because I would try to find something harder and more challenging. I would also try to balance my time better.
