Designs Collaborative Spaces
Provides flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration and community.
Current Practices:
Fixed class schedules for library times at the elementary libraries
Flexible schedules in all libraries for kids to come down when they need a book
Flexible / comfortable seating
Libraries arranged so a variety of areas can be used at the same time
Instructional areas in libraries as well as study areas, quiet reading areas
Charging towers in some libraries
Display art projects and other student work in libraries
Libraries used for staff meetings, book fairs, etc. as well as by district clubs and organizations
Libraries used by community groups outside of school hours
High School Library reworked with more flexible seating during 18-19 and 19-20 school years
Makerspaces / STEAM labs in two libraries
Libraries have started to genrefy their collections
Possible Areas for Growth:
Continue to genrefy of all six libraries
Improve signage in libraries
Need for charging stations for devices in all libraries
Providing specific spaces in the libraries for creation (makerspace)
