Leads professional learning to cultivate broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in a digital age (e.g. critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, technology).
Current Practices:
Coordinate after school training with vendors on purchased databases.
Shares specific staff resources that will match with their grade level or subject to help facilitate student learning
Present new technology at staff meetings and district-wide professional development day
LMS share information learned from online webinars
Survey teachers to determine needs
Align professional development sessions with district and school goals
Professional development provided to library media assistants during the school year
Support technology department with iPad/laptop needs for student/teacher devices
Support technology department with iPad apps for student/teacher devices, by reviewing privacy policies, supporting questions and meeting with grade levels on app needs
Support technology department with Common School Funds purchased online software
Collaboration with teachers and library media assistants to discuss needs and goals to improve student outcomes
Possible Areas for Growth:
District pays for our only LMS to attend one conference per year
Create a district-wide plan for professional development with an emphasis on incorporating technology and online databases in the classroom using best practices for usage time and implementation
Work with Technology Department to add library videos/training to a central online space for teachers and students
Collaboration between classroom teachers to create a digital citizenship unit for grades K-4 so it is incorporated in their learning through out the year
Library Media Specialist complete the PBS News and Media Literacy program to support teachers and students
LMS will create curriculum for K-4 and Digital Literacy teachers will support 5-8
This can help students think critically and thoughtfully as media consumers and creators.
