In Year 4, students enter our 'bring your own' 1:1 iPad programme. They will continue to use this iPad through to Year 8 and possibly beyond. The introduction of this programme brings a multitude of benefits for both teaching and learning. Staff at Harrow are trained to follow the SAMR model, created by Professor Ruben Puentedura, to ensure that technology is never used simply as a substitution tool but rather allows for significant task redesign or the creation of content which would have been inconceivable without technology.
If your child joins Harrow in Year 4, he/she will require a new iPad or pre-used iPad, reset to Factory settings. Please review the iPad Model and Setup pages for further information. Your child will need to sign the student iPad agreement before bringing the device into school. On your first morning (or the New Families day), please bring the device into school where ICT services will add all the required apps via our management system (MDM). Please make sure you do not link an Apple ID to the device at this stage. Later in the day, you will be asked to collect the device and we will provide advice and support regarding setting up the Apple ID (via Family Sharing) and parental controls.
