Meet X

After the successful building of Gr8 Dane, the team was pumped up for building this beauty! 

"We focused too much on one design for the arm early on without considering too many other options; turned out that the arm design we had originally stuck with was weak and wobbly. 

Due to this, we had to change our gripper design to accommodate. Instead of a claw design, we went with suction cups as an intake system. 

The frame itself, the A-Frame was extremely durable and it could take a beating. Fun fact: The black paint job was spray-painted!" - Elijah, Mechanical Member

The reason why our team named this bot X was because:

• 2023 was, technically, our 5th year.

• 2023 was our second true year when we had a team of veterans.

• In the future, we hoped to spread the outreach of stem by multiplying;  5 x 2 = 10 

• 10 in algebra is X and the arm uses a lot of mathematics equations to gather angles that are full of X's. Since the arms' values are never truly known from where they move, it gives an x value. 

• X is like X-men; Thinking of how diverse our team is and how accepting of differences we are, you would compare the team to the X-men team and the robot as our symbol. Our mentor, Mr. Williams, is like Professor X bringing us together.
