Promotion and Graduation

K-8 PROMOTION

Any elementary or middle school student failing more than two core subjects (English, Math, Science, History) may be required to repeat the grade. The school reserves the right to retain a child if it is deemed necessary by the administration.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

For a student to graduate with a standard high school diploma, he/she MUST meet the State of Florida minimum requirements of 24 credits in the specified areas of focus. To earn a credit in a course, a student MUST pass with a “D” or higher and have passed any required final exam or End of Course exam.  Seniors shall have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA to graduate.

Seniors are required to have all credits verified and confirmed by the administration the Friday before graduation.  If for any reason a senior’s credits can not be verified at this point, they will not be allowed to walk at the graduation ceremony.  This verification deadline is mandated by the State of Florida, and Hampden DuBose Academy must and will uphold this mandate.  Our goal is for everyone to finish and receive a high school diploma, whether it’s in the course of a normal 4 year experience or there are special circumstances in which a student goes into the summer or longer.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Hampden DuBose Academy requires 24 credits to meet the requirements for an HDA diploma.  By meeting HDA requirements a student would automatically have the necessary course work required to meet the State of Florida graduation requirements as well as qualify for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship if he/she desires to attend college.
