Homework and Make Up Work

HOMEWORK AND MAKE-UP WORK POLICY

HOMEWORK

Homework will be posted by the teacher in our Learning Management System. In general, students can expect to have homework every night, excluding make-up work that the student may have. The following is an estimate of the time taken to complete homework:

Plan accordingly as you engage your students in the learning process by encouraging them as they complete their homework.

MAKE-UP WORK POLICY

Teachers will provide students with the opportunity to make up for missed work for excused absences. It is the responsibility of the parent and/or student to pick up all missed work, including class notes. During the student’s absence, it is the responsibility of the student to review Alma, Canvas, or email the teacher, to find out about the required assignments and or tests or quizzes.

All make-up work is expected to be completed in a timely fashion. Students will receive 1 day for every day absent in order to make up the work up to 2 days in total from the date of the student’s return to school or until the last day of the grading period whichever is first.

If an assignment was issued prior to the day the student is absent and is due on a day that the student was absent, it is expected to be submitted on the day the student returns to school.

If the student is absent for a test or a quiz, he or she will be expected to make arrangements with his or her teacher to stay after school the day he or she returns. If extenuating circumstances occur, please consult the teacher to arrange a makeup date.  Students have three (3) school days from the day they were absent to make these arrangements or the student may receive a zero (0) for the test or quiz.

During the make-up time period, all missed assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests, will receive a zero (0) as a placeholder. If the work is submitted in accordance with the makeup work requirements then the zero (0) grade will be replaced with the issued grade.

If the student’s absence is unexcused, the school may provide an opportunity for the student to make up missed work.  Please note with an unexcused absence, the school is not obligated to provide this opportunity.  If the school makes this available, the student will have to arrange a time after school within three (3) school days to make up missed work.  If work is not completed, a grade of zero (0) may be issued for missing assignments.
