This agreement details Chromebook usage conditions and serves as a laptop maintenance contract for Chromebooks owned by Hampden DuBose Academy. Students/Parents are required to pay a rental fee for usage of the Chromebook. Grades kindergarten through eighth grade shall rent and use the school's issued Chromebooks. Grades nine through twelve may rent the school's Chromebook or the student may use their device.
Equipment:
If the chromebook malfunctions, it is the student's responsibility to contact administration for an appointment to return the chromebook for repairs. A student will be given a ‘loaner’ chromebook for their use while their computer is being repaired, provided there are computers available.
Damage/Broken Screen/Water Damage/Theft/Reimage:
Repairs on the chromebook will be at the school’s expense when normal wear and tear is involved. If the shop determines that the computer has been abused in any manner (dropping the chromebook, foreign object inserted in chromebook, removing keys, hinge damage from carrying the device unsupported while open, or virus; the student and parent will be liable to pay Hampden DuBose Academy for the cost of the repairs or the replacement cost, whichever is less. The student is also responsible for the value of the chromebook if it is lost or stolen. We suggest that parents cover this on their homeowner or renters insurance policy. The retail replacement value of the computer is $400.00.
Upon graduation, withdrawing, or taking a leave of absence from school the student and parent/guardian is responsible for returning the chromebook and all peripherals in working condition or pay for it. Chromebook will be turned into the school on or before the last day of school. This date will be determined by the administration.
