Chrome device guidance

Here is some essential information to help you use Chrome devices at Hackney council.

Enter the first part of your Hackney email address, click Next (you do not need to enter “@hackney.gov.uk”)
Enter your Password, click Next
Enter your 2-step authentication code, click Login

On Chromebooks simply close the lid
On Chromebooks and Chromeboxes press the search + L keys
On Chromebooks and Chromeboxes select the time and then the padlock button
If using MyOffice (VDI) don't lock the MyOffice session itself just lock the device as per the above. If you do lock the MyOffice (VDI) session then you may loose keyboard connectivity to be able to put in your password to unlock it. If this happens then pressing the Alt key should resolve the issue

To access your MyOffice (VDI) desktop on from your Chrome device click on the VMWare Horizon icon
Click on the MyOffice icon if you are using a Chromebox and enter your username and password
Click on the MyOffice Remote icon if you are using a Chromebook and enter your username, password and Google Authenticator passcode

Please note that there is currently an issue with the VMWare Horizon app which means its not possible to copy from the extended screen the primary screen. VMWare will hopefully have resolved this issue very soon

You will have been moved onto a new MyOffice environment when moving onto the new Chrome devices. Please see here for guidance on accessing this from an old work laptop or personal device

Your Chrome keyboard works just like a regular keyboard, with a few differences that you’ll have to get used to. It shouldn’t take long to adapt to the Chrome keyboard - have a look at this help guide

Whilst all Chromeboxes will be issued with Chrome keyboards it is possible to use a Windows keyboard still

It's not currently possible to print directly from your Chrome device at Hackney but this capability will be coming soon
If you need to print please log on to MyOffice (VDI)
