Please note that two (2) quality inspections have/will have been conducted on your property. The initial carried out by the GVG construction department, and the second by GVG head management. Please get in contact with us should you wish to order a third via an external professional. We will assist in making the necessary access arrangement.
Gardner Vaughan Group offers a six month conditional guarantee period on all residential dwellings it builds from the date of initial settlement.
Scratches, dents, chips, stains etc identified after handover and which occur during the six month guarantee period will not be Gardner Vaughan Group's responsibility. See further below for what constitutes as a 'defect'.
Please submit defects to defects@gvg.com.au ensuring you include the following information:
You should receive a notification by return email that your list has been received by administration. If you do not receive this notification within 1 business day, please let us know by phoning the office on (07) 3630 4570.
On receipt of your list, administration may first respond requesting further information. Your complete list will then be logged and sent out to the defect manager. The defect manager will contact the relevant person for access to inspect the defect, or will issue the defect directly to the relevant trade. In rare circumstances, the trade may organise access with you directly. Once the defect has been rectified, this information will be sent back to administration, who will double check with you that the work has been completed, and finally the defect will be closed out.
In offering this service, it is important for you to understand that Gardner Vaughan Group will make every attempt to resolve issues in the shortest timeframe as possible, however some items require third party involvement, whose timeframes cannot be controlled by Gardner Vaughan Group.
It can sometimes be difficult to establish what is an what is not a defect. As a guide the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) have produced a guide of standards and tolerances that outline what is and is not a defect for many common issues that arise. If you are wanting to report a defect, it would be a good idea to check the guide below.
The QBCC guide refers to a "normal viewing position" for most aesthetic items. This is important to understand this when assessing surface finishes, as no matter how good a finish is, under certain conditions unavoidable discrepancies in things such as a materials "flatness" can be seen. This "normal viewing position" provides a basis for assessing finishes to avoid argument and set a reasonable level of expectation of what can be achieved from modern building materials and methods.
