EXTERNAL CLADDING
The building is clad with a mix of painted rendered block work, painted rendered RITEK, Vitrabond cladding, and ceramic wall tiles.
The render is a high quality Ezycote system. Further information can be found on the Ezycote system on the Render and Paint page.
The soffits and eaves are clad in Hardiflex and Villaboard. These products are very durable and require no maintenance other than re-painting. If damaged through impact, a qualified plasterer should be contacted to repair.
It is not unusual for "hairline cracks" to appear over time in villaboard. While the joints are set with a special polymer compound, thermal and moisture variations result in expansion of the board itself, and the substrate and structure. This cracking is normal, however if cracks exceed 1mm or if plaster falls out of a joint, advice should be sought from a qualified plasterer.
Vitrabond
One of the main architectural features of the building is the bronze Vitrabond cladding. Vitrabond is a hi-tech aluminium composite cladding system, that has an oven baked colour coating applied. Other than cleaning the system requires no maintenance.
Below are product data and maintenance information sheets for Vitrabond cladding.
