Numeracy
For the last two weeks we have:
dedicated 20 minutes a day to Reflex.
worked on mastering our basic multiplication facts with specific strategies:
started using Multiplication in a Flash stories to help us memories the facts that we don't have quick tricks for. So far we have learned:
moved between 4 stations for small group work with numeracy. The stations are: teacher station, independent practice, technology and games. Students are learning about the expectations and routines around these rotation. It's really nice having the opportunity to work with a small group of students while the other students are engaged with a variety of independent tasks.
Science
This week in science we:
started learning about simple machines and how they make our lives easier.
focused on the lever and wedge.
Winter Olympics
Over the past two weeks we:
watched a variety of Olympic events during snack time and at lunch. It was so much fun to cheer on the athletes!
chose a winter Olympic sport to research and create a slideshow about.
presented our slideshows to our classmates.
played Olympic themed stations in the gym.
Art
This week we focused our art on Black History Month. We created paper quilts using inspiration from Gee's Bend. To learn all about Gee's Bend, listen to this read aloud. It's a great story! You can also look through this slideshow!

Out and About in Devon
It's always special when we run into our 3B family members outside of the school building. The three of us were lucky enough to spend last Saturday night at the Annual Spaghetti Supper in support of the School Band Programs at Riverview Middle School and John Maland High School. It was such a great night!
