RMS Shadow Morning
RMS Shadow Morning
The Grade 4 students enjoyed heading over to Riverview Middle School for a “Shadow Morning.” They had the opportunity to meet the teachers, as well as, participate in a variety of activities with the Grade 5 students. These activities included learning how to use a combination lock, playing Plickers, observing a chemistry experiment, and learning a new game in PE. The highlight for many students was spending time on the RMS playground during recess!
CelYOUbration
We are counting down the days until the end of the 2024-2025 school year by celebrating one student each day! This student is chosen each morning and is given some special activities throughout the day such as wearing a glittery hat, choosing their desk buddy for the day, doing special jobs and enjoying a few sweet treats. Their classmates also write about each CelYOUbration student on a poster which they take home at the end of the day.
Personification
In this activity, students explored the concept of personification, where human characteristics are given to non-human objects or ideas. As part of the lesson, students researched a variety of personification phrases and selected their favorite one. Then they created an illustration to represent the phrase creatively. To deepen their understanding, students also wrote about their chosen phrase to explain the actual meaning.
Examples:
The cloud began to cry.
The flowers begged for water.
The rain was hammering the roof during the movie.
The toast jumped out of the toaster.
The fall leaves danced across the lawn.
The characters jumped off the page.
My alarm clock screamed at me.
The worries packed their bags and left.
