To complete this assignment, students were asked to choose a constellation that they were interested in learning more about. They then used online resources such as Kiddle.co, Epic!, and YouTube to gather information using a list of questions to guide them. Once they gathered enough information, students summarized their findings in full sentences. They were encouraged to focus on proper grammar,  punctuation and spelling to ensure their writing was clear. The assignment aimed to help students develop research skills while learning more about the stars and constellations.

This week the students wrote "Buddy Bio Poems" about another student in the class. First we listened to the book, Don’t Need Friends. Then the students completed a fun writing activity which involved them interviewing a classmate and writing a poem about their partner. Bio poems are easy to write because they follow a specific format but they don't have to rhyme. The students began by interviewing a partner to gather facts and information about his or her classmate. Then they composed a short bio poem using the information learned during the partner interview. 

We took some time this week to create Valentine’s Day card holders in class. This was an open ended art project and the students enjoyed using their own creativity! On Friday, the students exchanged Valentine’s Day cards with their classmates and had some time to play games, make bracelets and decorate cookies! 

Through the PC PowerFull Kids Nutrition grant, we’ve had wonderful opportunities this year to support student nutrition. On Wednesday afternoon, RBES students took part in their second Wellness Afternoon. To start the event, each classroom had an opportunity to make homemade wraps!
