Alma Thomas - Black History Month
In Language Arts we spent some time learning about Alma Thomas who was an African American artist known for her colorful and unique paintings. She was also a teacher and she loved sharing her passion for art with others. She showed that art can express feelings and ideas in creative ways
After learning about Alma Thomas, the students completed their own piece of art which was inspired by her abstract style, using shapes, colors, and patterns.
Pink Shirt Day
On Pink Shirt Day, our class celebrated the theme “Let Kindness Grow” by creating a colourful collaborative bulletin board. After brainstorming ideas, each student completed the sentence, “I can make kindness grow by…” and wrote their response on a flower they traced and cut out. Together, they decorated the bulletin board to look like a beautiful garden, making it bright and cheerful.
