Idioms
Idioms
This week, we explored idioms-phrases whose meanings aren’t always clear from the words themselves—by reading books and choosing a favorite idiom. Students then drew two pictures: one showing the literal meaning and one showing the figurative meaning. To finish, they created costumes that represented the literal meaning of their idiom. This fun activity helped the students learn how idioms work through creativity and imagination!
Succulent Garden Art
Students began by drawing a pot placed on a counter or ledge, then selected a succulent design of their choice to illustrate inside the pot. Once their initial sketches were complete, they added decorative details to personalize their pots. After finalizing the drawing in pencil, they traced over their lines with permanent markers. To finish, students shaded their artwork using oil pastels, then applied baby oil to blend the colors, creating a smooth look.
DrumFit
The past two weeks the students had a great time participating in DrumFIT during PE class. DrumFIT is a high-energy workout that combines cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, with the fun of drumming to engaging music.
