Inter University Weight Lifting Championship 2024

The University of Peradeniya achieved remarkable success at the Inter University Weight Lifting Championship 2024, held from October 26th to 28th at the University of Ruhuna. Among the 13 competing state universities, the University of Peradeniya secured an impressive overall 3rd place in the men’s category, showcasing the talent and dedication of its athletes.

One of the highlights of the event was the outstanding performance by W.K.M. Rodrigo from the Faculty of Engineering, who set three new Inter University Weight Lifting records in his weight category, a true testament to his skill and dedication.

In addition to Rodrigo’s achievements, other University of Peradeniya athletes excelled:

1. P.D. Thilakasri from the Faculty of Engineering won 2nd place.

2. T.H. Hettiarachchi from the Faculty of Medicine secured 3rd place.

3. W.W.S.D. Fernando from the Faculty of Science also took 3rd place.
