Annual Colours Awarding Ceremony-2025
The University of Peradeniya's Annual Colours' Award Ceremony, held on 27th Febuary, 2026, at the E.O.E. Pereira Theater, was a splendid event dedicated to recognizing the outstanding achievements of undergraduate sportsmen and sportswomen who excelled in sports during 2025. A total of 150 sportsmen and 99 sportswomen were honored with university colours, including 129 half colours for men and 85 for women. The ceremony celebrated exceptional performances at Inter University, National, and International Competitions representing the University of Peradeniya.
In addition to the university colours, special awards were presented to athletes who demonstrated remarkable performances in national and international representations. The event acknowledged 18 special awards for national level competitions, Furthermore, athletes who set 02 new Sri Lanka University Games records at the SLUG swimming championships and 01 university record at the SLUG Track & Field Championships-2025 were felicitated. Moreover, 03 powerlifting records were also awarded at the ceremony.
The Chief Guest at the Colours' Award Ceremony was the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Terrence Madhujith while Prof. Ranjith Pallegama was the Guest of Honor at the ceremony. The Deans of Faculties, including Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake from the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. R.H. Kuruppuge from the Faculty of Management, Prof. B.M.H.S.K. Bannahaka from the Faculty of Dental Sciences, Prof. R.G.S.C. Rajapakse from the Faculty of Science, and Prof. Saman Nanayakkara from the Faculty of Medicine, participated adding glamour to the event. As Special Guests Prof. N.W.B. Balasuriya, Director PGIA, Mrs. Arosha Perera, former Directress of Physical Education and the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mrs. Chandima Herath also graced the occasion.
The Acting Director of Physical Education, Prof. Sivananthawerl, Chief Guest Prof. Terrence Madhujith & Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Ranjith Pallegama delivered speeches, adding significance to the event. The University Cultural Centre's dancing group presented stunning performances, enhancing the grandeur of the ceremony.
Following the Colours' Awards Ceremony, a glamorous Colours Night 2023 organized by the Sports Council took place at the Gymnasium.
