The University of Peradeniya girls grabbed the champion's trophy at the Invitational Basketball Championship worked off at the Gymnasium, University of Moratuwa, from 05th to 13th August, 2023.

In the semi-finals, Peradeniya beat the University of Ruhuna, and in the finals, the University of Peradeniya girls beat the University of Moratuwa 58 to 48. Ms. HMWGPT Welagedara (A/19/835) and Ms. MNR Perera (E/21/298) were adjudged the best defensive player of the tournament and the most valuable player of the tournament, respectively.

In the men’s category, the University of Peradeniya became the 02nd runner-up, beating Sabaragamuwa University for 72:58 baskets.
