At the beginning of the school year, we went over our classroom expectations and rules. To keep everything on theme, we call these our “Travel Guidelines." They help us stay on course and make our classroom a safe, happy place to learn. These guidelines are posted in the front of our classroom and we revisit them often to keep them fresh in our minds!
✨ Our Travel Guidelines ✨
Have fun! 🎉😊
Be kind with words and actions. 💬💛
Keep hands, feet, and personal items to ourselves. 🙌👟
Take care of the classroom and supplies. 🪑✏️
Raise your hand. ✋🙋
Try your best! ⭐💪
Be the boss of yourself. 🧠💼
To build on these expectations, especially taking care of our space and being the boss of yourself, we use daily and weekly classroom responsibilities, or “chores.” These roles help students practice independence, teamwork, and responsibility. This chart is placed in the front of the room and student have a picture of themselves next to their role.
Roles rotate so everyone gets a turn!

A box of crayons 🖍️

Along with these standard items, each child also has things that are specific to them and their electives. For example, students who are in art class have their sketch books. Students also have any worksheets we are working on at the moment or any worksheets they may have missed if they were absent.
Because we frequently use colored pencils and markers in both classrooms, those supplies are stored in a shared box at the front of the room. Each student has their own personal set and is responsible for keeping all items in their pencil pouch or their original box. Our Art Supplies helper makes sure this box travels with us as we move between classrooms.
These systems help our classroom run smoothly while encouraging responsibility, independence, and pride in our shared space. 💙✈️
