Map Skills

Our students have been busy exploring geography and learning all about the world around them! We recently completed a series of fun, hands-on assignments focusing on countries, the United States of America, and our home state of South Carolina.

As we learned more about South Carolina, students explored some of our state’s special symbols, including the South Carolina state flag, state bird, state fish, state flower, state tree, and state animal. They also had the opportunity to learn more about the United States and explore countries around the world.

Through these activities, our students practiced important geography skills while discovering fun facts about their state, their country, and the world. We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm they put into each assignment! 🌎🗺️💙

Then we zoomed in even closer and focused on something super important—our addresses! We practiced saying them, recognizing them, and even got creative by drawing our very own homes. 🏡 Our students put so much thought into the little details that make each house uniquely theirs, from favorite colors to special features and everything in between. Every drawing was a little peek into their world and was bursting with personality, creativity, and pride. We absolutely loved seeing their homes through their eyes—and getting to know what makes each one feel like home! 💛 

To bring everything together, each student created their very own map! Their maps included local favorites like Target, Walmart, Quality Foods, Taylors Rec, the fire station, the police station, Greer High School, and the general area of their homes. It was such a fun, hands-on way to learn about where we live and all the places around us!
