General Guidelines
Fountain Inn High School
General Guidelines
2023-2024
Students should not be on Fountain Inn High School campus before 7:40AM.
Students are tardy to school after 8:45AM. The tardy bell rings at 8:45AM.
Parents dropping off students for school should do so in the front traffic circle. Students may not be dropped off or picked up in the front parking lot, student parking lot, or in the bus loop. All car rider traffic must follow the traffic circle pattern for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up for the safety of our students. Do not ride through the front parking lot to "cut through" to the traffic circle for safety reasons. Students may NOT be dropped off at FIHS between 7:40AM and 4:15PM other than the front car loop. This includes student parking lots and the bus loop.
After arriving on campus each day, students should report to the cafeteria for breakfast. At 8:15AM, all students not eating breakfast will move to the main gym to be seated until the 8:35AM bell.
All students are required to wear their FIHS ID badge and must have their ID badge worn around their neck on a breakaway lanyard before entering the school building each morning. Students without ID badges or lanyards must purchase another ID badge ($5) before being admitted to first block. Replacement lanyards are sold in the ID office for $1.00. ID violations will be disciplined by administration.
By 4:00PM, all students should be out of the building and off campus or engaged in extracurricular activities, after school programs, detention, or tutoring.
Students will be treated as young adults and therefore should act like young adults. No profane or vulgar language, yelling, screaming, running, or otherwise loud and disruptive behavior will be tolerated and will be disciplined by school administration.
Students are expected to demonstrate respect for the overall school facility at FIHS. We are proud of our new school and have the responsibility to take care of our building and campus. Keeping our school clean is everyone's responsibility.
Cell phones are allowed in hallways during class change, but are not allowed to be visible in the classroom, except with the permission of the teacher. Students are allowed to wear headphones/earphones in the building with one ear free. Students are not allowed to wear earphones/headphones in the classroom without teacher's permission. See GCS Acceptable Use of Technology policy for additional information regarding technology usage.
Students are expected to utilize restrooms in between classes. At no time should students be in a bathroom stall with other students. Students caught in bathroom stalls with other students will face disciplinary action by school administration.
There are times when it is necessary for students to leave the classroom during class time. For example, to use the restroom, go to the school nurse, see an administrator or guidance counselor. Students are expected to report to the destination and return to class. No additional areas are allowed during the time out of class. Students are expected to utilize the restroom closest to their classroom. Out of area will result in disciplinary action by school administration.
Food and drink items are confined to the cafeteria. Food and drink are not allowed outside these areas and will be confiscated. Students may have water in a spill proof container. Drink machines in teacher collaboration spaces are off limits to students. Outside food deliveries will not be accepted by the main office and are not allowed.
Only messages from a parent/guardian that are an immediate emergency will be given to students. Packages, flowers, birthday gifts, and lunches will not be delivered to students. Students are not allowed to order food from restaurants or by using delivery apps (ex: UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, etc). Students should make sure parents/guardians know this policy.
Early dismissals require parent/guardian permission either in writing or in person. Phone dismissals are not allowed for safety reasons. No early dismissals are allowed after 3:00PM each day without a prior parent note.
