2023 has been an interesting year for fashion. We’ve brought back baggy shorts, mom jeans, and fanny packs, with the last choice arguably being the worst. There are mixed opinions on the new fashion trends, but there is one thing most people can agree on-- Crocs' new take on cowboy boots is the ugliest trend yet.
What are these Croc cowboy boots? Are they real? Is this all a joke? Sadly, it is very real. The Croc cowboy boots are just as real as the Barbie pandemic, and they are taking the world by storm with their ugliness. The cowboy boots are similar to what you would wear if you worked on a farm or were an equestrian. The only difference is the gaping holes in the shoes, similar to real Crocs. The brand has once again managed to make another horrible kind of shoe and, according to The New York Times, “There were the KFC chicken-scented Crocs in 2020 and the high-heeled Crocs.” This isn’t the first time that the brand has made outrageous footwear, and it certainly isn’t going to be the last, as Crocs seems to have fun designing these fashion nightmares.
Perhaps the worst part of this situation is that the new shoe was made from a meme. The company took the idea from a meme online, and didn’t even have to discuss it for long. They just thought about cowboy boots with holes, and thought, “Hey! This is a great idea!” While this seems crazy to sane people, like you and me, apparently this shoe design has been greatly anticipated. People don’t want it just for the meme, they actually think it’s a great idea and have been asking for these for years. USA Today writes, “Fans of the brand have waited years for the highly anticipated cowboy boot design to come to light.” This wasn’t a random joke that the company decided to roll with; it was a frequently asked-for product. For normal people, such as myself, this concept is hard to properly grasp.
Sadly, we are about to see these shoes everywhere. They are being sold at the end of the month during what the company calls, “Croctober.” That is right. October is an entire month for shoes, and the ugliest ones at that. The cowboy boots will be the starring product of the month, and will be sold on Croc Day. Yes. That is a thing somehow. And these aren’t the only crocs being sold during this god-awful day. Taco Bell has joined in on the madness, and teamed up with Crocs to make the most hideous sliders that have ever existed, resulting in the creation of two horrible products in one month. And while most people might consider this to be awful, Crocs said in an announcement, “This Croctober transcends former years.” They believe that these newest disasters are the company’s greatest ideas yet, and their fans agree for some reason.
The Croc cowboy boots are perhaps the most useless and unneeded pair of shoes that the company has ever created. Who knows, maybe they’ll prove us wrong in the future and create something even worse. If they have done it once, they can certainly do it again.
