FanCast: Infinite Leveling Murim

By Karlee Cornell

This month's fancast is going to be an attempt to turn a Japanese action-packed comic book called Infinite Leveling Murim, written by Gonbung, into a television series. No: this will not be a One Piece sequel. No: it is not Lyle, Lyle Crocodile. Just because Reddit says that Infinite Level Murim is a story about the military does not mean that statement is true.  This is the story of a young adult named Yuesong fighting, throughout his entire life and becoming the greatest fighter of Japan.

Protagonists suggested for a Infinite Leveling Murim Fancast

Daniel Radcliffe As Yuesong

Yuesong is a Japanese word that means: "Let It be; let it speak." Yuesong is a mystical blue ninja in Infinite Leveling Murim. He is mystical, and his powers feel like someone is hitting you with a bat or a pipe. Ironically, there is nothing mystical about being whacked with a pipe.

In Infinite Leveling Murim, Yuesong gets involved in a lot of fighting, since his dad is a very popular fighter in this story. He has no time for relationships. He is independent but likes making conversations. The main female character is interested in Yuesong, but he is very oblivious.

Daniel Radcliffe is our best bet for this role. The two look alike and Radcliffe played a similar magical character. Yuesong is chill but, at the same time, his sanity is gone.  Daniel's other roles that are similar to this character are: Arthur Kipps, Ig Perrish, Nate Foster, and Yossi Ghinsberg,

Joel McCrary as Chwang

Chwang Junki means farm, building, grave, or landlord. This man must have had a life. With that much meaning in his name, it sounds like another depressing Open Season film. Chwang feels like the adult version of Ho, because they are both the same amount of grumpy, with the same amount. It is interesting how both of them together can possibly be the emo version of Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony.

If you have not even seen  Joel McCrary's acting in Kickin It, you have a lot of catching up to do. Sit back, get yourself some sushi, corn dogs with some falafels, or a burger, or just don't. I don't even like sushi. This is just for the vibe.

McCrary plays a similar role to Chwang Junki in Kickin It. His character is Bobby Wasabi, an urban legend and the true master of his dojo (according to rumors) but, once you get to know him, he's very goofy. We also learn that he is more of an educator than an actual fighter.

Jason Earles as Yong

Yong Wi means Eternal Bravery. Yong is so hilarious. His comments are random and it eases a lot of tension, so it's not like the same aggressive chapter. When Yong first met Yuesong, there was just a ton of awkward silence and, Yong's head may have sounded like this: dang, they sent a beautiful-looking man after me. He's obviously going to ask me out. Nope. Abort, abort.

Jason Earles was the first comedian and actor I ever saw on my TV. Earles' comedic timing would be perfect for Yong. Jason's similar roles are Rudy Gillespie and Jackson Montana. All roles played by Earles are very child-like, but in a good way because his characters go through a lot of grief and betrayal, though Rudy and Yong do not exactly talk to little kids and cry with them over things you could just buy at the store.

Owen Patrick Joyner as Chorang

Chorang means bright, sparkly, or a silk-covered lantern. Chorang is the ‘’ice bear’’ of the whole group. He is the most calm out of everyone and, when a lot of people don't get along, he just has the most boring look on his face that asks: "Why did I compete here out of all places?" He is a great fighter, who is on Yuesong's level but is too humble to do anything about it for someone that has a name that describes a stereotypical pretty princess.

Owen Joyner's similar roles to this character are Arc, Mountain Tribe Boy, and himself-- twice. These are all chill, heroic roles, who do what is right for themselves before anyone else attempts to do something bad toward them. He is sometimes oppositional and a little blind regarding his own actions, but we love him.

Side Characters for aN Infinite Leveling Murim Fancast

Tyler Hoechlin (Heck-lin) as Myegong

Myeong Jin: a.k.a, trendy person, a.k.a, Yuesong's father. Myegong is the only parental figure in Yuesong's life, who wanders off a lot-- just like Atticus Finch. This is a somewhat abnormal comparison, though, considering that Atticus is a little more thoughtful than Myegong. Myegong's parental absence is the definition of a nightmare to a newborn weakling, who was randomly pushed into a dojo, but it's fine. He has friends, at least.

Tyler Hoechlin can possibly take over this role. His appearance is accurate. Tyler is also a dad, and is the best part of anything he acts in. Martin Brewer, Shawn Hodges, Kaleb, Frank Lewis, Derek Hale, Abe, Ian Yerxa, and Clark Kent are all of his dad roles, which somehow all involve beating an old man up. Since this story is action-packed, the pairing makes sense.

Ethan Hawke as Daeui

The author introduced Daeui, taking the book's level of craziness far past Seussville, and into Jim Carrey levels of insane. Here you have a random man, both lazy an actions and name (his name means Lazy), scolding his coworker, for not using metal correctly, when Daeui even said to just observe. This happened in the middle of a fight, by the way, so it is either a message from the author to just not overthink, lay down and watch what is unfolding, or not work hazardously.

Ethan Hawke has been in a lot of comedy movies, more than people recognize. Gattaca, and The Black Phone, and Strange Way To Live are a few examples. Since he is a dad in real life, I thought his role as a boss would fit. He is very good at comedy, and Daeui is timid about not noticing funny things happening around him.

Christopher Briney as Daechang

Daechang Lang means large intestine, which is very odd because where do they even find these people to hire for a job? It is also weirdly funny because, for someone that is named large intestine, he sure is a quiet one. His mom did not think that one through. It just sounds like the author went to Vegas and, before blacking out, wrote all of this. If the author had a secret, I would think that they are secretly from Seussville or a Jim Carrey film.  Basically, Lang is a normal guy. This may seem oversimplified, but the only information readers see is that he talks, he is there for five seconds, and he breathes.

In the blurry comic strip, you can kind of see Daechang's face and hair. That reminded me of the actor, Christopher Briney. Christopher Briney's similar roles to this character are The Shadow, Benjy, and Conrad Fisher. These roles are similar because they do not seem to belong. In the blurry comic strip, you can kind of see Daechang's face and hair.

Deuteragonists for The Infinite Leveling Murim Fancast

Jack Black as Taegong

A deuteragonist is someone with good and bad intentions, which is good for all sorts of mystery genres, no matter the circumstance.

Taegong Cheon means Reverse. His name makes sense because, at the beginning of the story, he sounds like a nice, responsible, emperor. However, he is completely the opposite. Some characters think he is deaf, but he just does not want to talk at a normal volume, and if you do the same thing to him, just picture any Jack Black role throwing a temper tantrum. A

No one has a beard like Jack Black, except Taegong Cheon. Let's be honest. We need more than another remake of Kung-Fu Panda from Jack Black. He is such an iconic actor. I just wish his acting was appreciated more because everyone just recognizes him from animated films.

Darren Barnett as gihu

Gihu Jang means happy city. Gihu’s name makes a lot of sense to him. He is carefree and gets under people's skin easily. In battle, he is serious but, outside of a peaceful environment, he is as wild as a spooked horse. Every single time an emperor sees him, they seem to think: Okay, you are under baby crib arrest since an empty baby crib is the only thing we will let you cool down in since you are a maniac.

Darren Barnett would crush this role. His similar roles to this character are Paxton-Hall-Yoshita, Tag, Floyd, Hot Seth, Yuichi Usagi, Mike, Max, Joey, Taigen, Nick, Jay Owens, Fukumachi Makoto, Danny, and Michael. All of these roles are mentally concerning. I am just glad that, for once, there is no pie in this because, usually, it gets very disturbing.

Antagonists For the Infinite Leveling Murim fancast

Adrian Greensmith as Ho

Ho Eum's name means "surname" and "overseas". Ho is literally the definition of an angry teddy bear. Once Eum sees Yuesong, his overprotective right-hand man spot, opens up to someone else and he just wants the emperor to die already so he can rule over, considering he's ‘’the strongest’’, as readers thought when Yuesong's dad beat him up first. Speaking of dads, of course, this is not an average story with a dash of father issues.

Adrian Greensmith totally looks similar to this character. One of his similar roles to this character would be Hunter. Greensmith seems like he loves playing diverse roles, so it is hard to tell if the actor actually likes comics. Adrian's personality makes it seem like he likes comics so, hopefully, he will accept this role to leave my mind unempty.

Tom Hiddelston as Jindo

No wonder Jindo Dong is a miserable villain. He was named after a dog. The way Jindo treats Yuesong has the same mental abuse tactic as Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We also see Yong being controlled since he lives with him for some reason. A backstory would be nice.

Tom Hiddleston's similar roles are Loki, Jonathan Pine, Sir Thomas Sharpe, Adam, Dr. Robert Laing, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Captain Hook, Captain James Nicholls, King Henry V, Caius Martius Coriolanus, and William Buxton. Hiddleston is just good at playing the bad guy.

Dylan Sprayberry as Bandit #1

Bandit #1 is the leader of the three bandits. These are the first villains we see at the beginning of the book. The reason why they are all at the back, though, is because they are not the smartest. In other words, they bring tiny baby guns to a fistfight. Very dumb.

Dylan Sprayberry's similar roles are DJ, Flynn, Mario, Carter, Rodney, and Max-- all characters that make stupid decisions. Why would you even punch someone with a gun? This is not a game. There are bandits in TV shows that also act ridiculously dumb but still have a few brain cells to know what they are doing. My weekend in a nutshell.

Richard Speight Jr as bandit #2

Bandit #2 mostly initiates the fights with #3. My only request for this role, for whoever wants to put the finishing touches on it, is to add more lines for #2. Please. An antagonist's lines have to match up with the length of the protagonists.

Richard Speight's similar roles are Bryan Watercress, Kal, Store Clerk, Lyle Johnston, Ed, Master Rupert, Andy, Jeff, Dave, Pete, Sam, James Thomason, Lex, himself, and Archangel Gabriel-- twice. Roger, Brooks, James, and Richard Slate. These are all frustrating roles because, one, they are either ridiculous or they are really not smart.

Vin Diesel as bandit #3

Lastly, Bandit #3: the Bandit that gets riled up the most and can actually fight a little longer than the two. He may seem tough, but his choice of words is not clever-- same with his ''stealth.'' All of them pretty much fail at blending in, which is good.

Vin's similar roles are Xander Cage, Dominic Toretto (six times), Groot (seven times), Fugitive Riddick (six times). Kaulder, Toorop, Jackie DiNorscio, Taylor Reese, and Rick. Vin Diesel's roles all have something in common making him a ''baddie.''

Overall, this was the most chaotic Fancast I have ever done. In response, the next one is probably going to be the most tame Fancast of this year.
