Jaxon Arnette talks about the significance of the senior walk at GPHS.

Signing the senior walk has been a tradition at Grants Pass High School for years. To commemorate the students who are soon graduating, the seniors sign their names on the white and blue walkway, and their signatures will stay there for the rest of the year.
On Oct. 24, 2023, the graduating class of 2023-2024 got their opportunity to write their name on the senior walk, which is located in the quad, right in front of the core building. One by one, students lined up to put their names on the senior walk to leave their legacy at the school. It is a great way to let the seniors leave their mark and have a sentimental moment to reflect on their near ending school years.
Seniors who were asked by The Scroll about signing the senior walk all had nothing but good things to say about it. GPHS senior, Alexander Wiseman, said, “It was so cool to finally sign it after seeing it for so long. It's weird that it's finally our turn.” Another GPHS senior, Patrick Koskela, said, “Me and my friends all got together and made sure we all signed next to each other to make a little group.” Another senior, Jesse Kubli, said, “It was really bittersweet going up there and signing my name. It was cool that I did it but made me realize school is almost done for me, which is weird.” Many seniors can probably relate to this because realizing the door to adult life is finally open is a scary and daunting fact.
While graduating and adult life can be a scary thought for seniors, life will take them where they should be. Letting the course of your life take you wherever it takes you is the best thing you could do and, honestly, the only thing. We don't have much control over our lives and what will happen, but we should not let the fear of the future weigh us down. We should embrace the uncertainty that comes with life. Go check out the senior walk to see all of the seniors who are graduating this year!
