Welcome to week 4!
Despite all those crazy snow showers we had last week, I did notice one other sign that spring is here. We heard these creatures when we were walking in the evening.
Do you know what animal is making this sound (you might hear my dog panting too)?
Another sign of spring we have been watching at our house are these hibernating bears on the bear cam at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver. (Also try the time lapse in the upper right corner to see a little more of these hibernating creatures and what they do each day!) I wonder when they will wake up for spring!
Mrs. McCaig had so much fun putting together her Earth Week video that she wanted to share some robin songs and activities she has with you too! Enjoy!
Here's another song about a robin from Super Simple Songs.
Using materials you find in your house or outside, can you build a nest for a robin? Take a picture of your nest!
Check out all the different ways that your classmates sorted items at their houses! Can you guess their sorting rules?
Annie sorted her beautiful collection of sea glass. Can you guess her sorting rules for the second and third pictures?
Vienna sorted her markers into two groups. Can you guess how she sorted them?
Max sorted his Lego into 3 groups. Can you guess his sorting rule?
Connor sorted his toys into four groups. Can you figure out how he sorted them?
Robyn sorted her Barbie shoes into three groups. Can you guess her sorting rule?
Saaithya sorted some of her toys into 4 groups. Can you guess how she sorted them?
Let's warm up by practicing our subitizing skills! (Parents: this is when we can recognize small quantities without having to count them)
This week we are going to practice breaking quantities into parts. We practice this skill when we play "How Many Are Hiding?"
Let's play together!
Check out this book, Five Creatures! It is about a family that has five creatures in it; three humans and two cats. The book splits the family of 5 into different groups! Check it out.
PARENTS: It's okay if you record how your child chose to break your family into parts but please have your child practice printing the numerals (numbers).
Watch this video of the song Down By The Bay!
