LAVA LAMP SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
The best part of this lava lamp activity is just how easy it is to set up! Walk into the kitchen, open your pantry and find everything you need to create a homemade lava lamp and check out liquid density. This is also a simple science activity to bring into the classroom because it’s so cost effective! Make sure to read up on the science of what’s in a lava lamp at the end of this page.
YOU WILL NEED:
Cooking oil (baby oil is clear and looks pretty but it’s not as cost effective as a large container of cooking oil)
Water
Food Coloring (green and blue for Earth Day)
Glass Jars (1-2)
Alka Seltzer Tablets (generic is fine).
Here are some activities you can try that use materials you may have in your recycling bin. Don't forget to share with us what you create!
Here's episode 2 of Mo Willem's Lunch Doodles! Please share with us pictures on the classroom or under Ways to Play Week 3! We would love to see what you create!
