This Wednesday is Earth Day! We celebrate Earth Day each to year to bring awareness to protecting and taking care of our planet. All of the world people take part in activities such as planting tree and cleaning up garbage. Together we can make the earth a happier and healthier place to live.
With so many of you starting gardens and planting seeds, I thought this was a wonderful book to share with you. How does the community changes after a garden is planted?

Go to Earth and Sky
Go To Curious Garden. Read both Curious Garden and Our Earth Helping Out
Emily Arrow even has a song that goes with Curious Garden!
Mrs. McCaig is a retired kindergarten teacher who volunteers in our classroom every Thursday morning.
She misses our Thursdays together and asked to share this video with you all! Check out the things she would share with us if she was visiting this week.
Enjoy!
Ask someone in your family to help you read these phrases.
Can you match these phrases to complete the sentence?
Draw a picture or take a photo of 2 different things you can do at home to take care of the earth.
Write or have your family record why these activities help to take care of the earth.
Here is a guided drawing practice for the week. Can you draw three spring flowers? Please post your finished drawing under Ways to Play Week 3!
Go on a letter hunt. Can you find two things in your home that start with each of these letters; S, A, T, I, P and N?
Write them down, draw the objects or take a picture of what you find.
Practice matching letters using sticky notes and paper. Choose 10 letters and practice matching them.
For an extra challenge try matching lower case to upper case letters.
Hide and Seek Sight Words!
Ask your family to print and hide these sight words around the house. When they are done, grab a pencil and a paper. Write down each word as you find them.
For this challenge you need a water spray bottle and a bit of sidewalk chalk. Print letters outside on your driveway or anywhere else your family allows. When you're done, erase them using your water spray bottle. Don't forget to practice their names and their sounds while you spray them away!
Despite singing just a few weeks ago that the "Snow has gone away!" it returned last week! This is a great chance for us to do a survey. Call your friends and family and ask them if they would like to take part in your survey! Ask them the following question;
Record your results either using a T-Chart or using Tally marks.
Can you answer these questions about your survey?
Which answer had the most amount of votes?
Which answer had the least amount of votes?
Here's an example of a T-Chart we did when we were together in January. You can check off each vote by printing the person's name or use a check mark!
I have signed our class up for access to award-winning digital resources through Kids A-Z. I have signed up for two programs; Raz Rids Plus and Headsprout. I'm hoping this resource can compliment the reading program we were using at school.
Kids A-Z Login Instructions Step 1: Go to www.kidsa-z.com Step 2: Enter or choose the teacher's username, KinderScott101
Your child's username is their name. Their password is the rabbit icon.
This week I assigned a book for each student under Raz-Kids Plus. You can also explore the Headsprout program which has some great literacy activities.
After your child logs in, each website your child's teacher has subscribed to is shown. *Access resources on mobile devices by downloading the Kids A-Z app from the app store. Data rates may apply.
