Your committee

The committee of a society works as a team to organise the activities of the society, ensure its development, make sure their activities are safe and effective and that their members adhere to the code of conduct.

Each committee must have a President/Chair, Secretary and Treasurer in order to be affiliated. The roles are elected once a year. You are also able to have Liberation Reps and other committee roles, but these are not mandatory.

Top tips for collaborating with your committee:

  • Create a yearly plan during your Annual General Meeting, beginning at the start of the next academic year. This will give you goals to aim towards and ensure every committee member knows what you are trying to achieve
  • Include students from different years in your committee. This will increase the chance that your society or community will live on to the next year with passionate and engaged students
  • Have an online forum to discuss things openly with the committee. Facebook groups work well for this!
  • Share a society to-do list. This allows others to pick up tasks if one person is struggling. We recommend using Trello
