Your society or community 'bank account'

All societies and communities will have a 'bank account' within Goldsmiths Students' Union. This is where all monies fundraised by you or owed to you will be paid. Any charges your society incur will be billed from here.

You cannot hold society monies outside of the SU 'bank account'. This is because we must be able to demonstrate to students, the UK Charity Commission and our financial auditors where society and community goes and how it is spent. Additionally, any money held outside the SU 'bank account' that is misplaced or stolen is not insured and cannot be reimbursed by the SU.

You can ask your relevant coordinator for your account balance, but we recommend you keep a log of your income/spending. We've made a handy speadsheet here for you to use.

Membership money versus grants, sponsorship and other finances

Your money generated through events, ticket sales, merch sales and membership fees is your money. You can spend it on the things listed on these pages:

Money given to you from the Students' Union or a sponsor for a specific purpose must be spent on what has been agreed.
