Getting the most out of Welcome Week

Welcome Week is all about engagement. You should be thinking about how you can get the word out about your society or community to as many people as possible.

Our top tips for the Welcome Fair:

  • Don't spend too long talking to each person. Try to have as many conversations with different people as possible
  • Encourage people to register as a member, but don't force them. If they don't want to register straight away, ask them for their contact details (name and email) so you can send them more information at another time
  • Try to make sure that you are relatable to as many people as possible. For example, if you are a tech society don't only reach out to people studying computing
  • Make sure there is something on your table to attract people over. This could be flyers, board games, sweets...

An extra tip!

If you are able to, consider running an additional activity during Welcome Week to capture people's interest. Your coordinator will email you towards the end of the academic year to ask you for proposals, so make sure you're checking your inboxes!
